Can you believe it? I certainly can't. It was around the beginning of July 2009 (after having been unceremoniously downsized out the door of a job I'd held for more than 20 years) that I got the idea to use some of my newfound free time to start a blog of my own. I hemmed. I hawed. But after I took a good look at what it might take to post some worthy shoe photo every day for at least three months, I realized I could at least make a go of it that far. And I figured that within that time, I should at least be able to amass enough new shots to last me another month. Not surprisingly one thing led to another and new ideas popped into my head. New features. New shoes. New adventures. A new year. Another month. And then another. And before I knew it, it was time to celebrate.
I have to say, from where I sit a year later, the thought that fills my mind most is simply: thank you! Thank you for helping make this labor of love more than just a glorified photo album. Along the way to collecting and sharing some shots of my favorite footwear, I've found a community of absolutely fabulous people to hang out with every day. Your feedback and comments have been welcome milestones to mark my journey. It's been so gratifying to find my path affirmed so frequently along they way. And the fact that you "get" clogs the way I do has been one of the highlights of tending to the blog.
Now, one year into this blog (and a year and some change into my growing free lance career), I'm excited by the prospects and promise of another year on the 'net. I enjoy connecting clog lovers with their favorite footwear. And being able to discover and add a few new pairs to my own closet racks has been a lot of fun, too. So I should also say thank you for giving me justification for browsing so many shoe sites and clog auctions every week. Who can say what another year will bring? It's been a thrilling ride so far. Thanks for joining me. Let's find out together where we can go next!
Just for the record, if you happened across Every Clog Has Its Day on Sunday, August 9th, 2009, you would have discovered an assortment of posts. I didn't think it made sense to just start this blog with a single entry so that night I uploaded a week's worth to give my new visitors something to browse through...including the first two posts dedicated to Miu Miu clogs that I owned. I had pulled a few shoes out of my own collection and posted them with just a word or two of explanation. A modest place to start. But, hey, look where it's taken us!

You gotta start somewhere!
I've been a fan of clogs and other wooden soled shoes for as long as I can remember. Thank goodness for the internet. It's so convenient to have so many cool and creative styles just a mouse click away. It wasn't long before it dawned on me that I could be saving some of those images to my computer to dream over and covet whenever I wanted. And it costs so much less than buying every pair that catches my eye! Just over a month ago, a good friend saw my photo collection and got me thinking seriously about creating a "clog blog" of my own. This web site is the result of that conversation. A big thank you, Meg!
Needless to say I have no shortage of images to share. What I don't have is permission for most of the shoe pics I've been drooling over. But fortunately, there's a good number of photos that I took myself. And a fair number of other shoe fans and eBay sellers who've been graciously willing to allow me to publish their shots here. A big thank you to all the supporters I've run across in my start up phase. I'll be linking to your auctions as your pics get put to use.
Which brings me to the very first image: a fabulous pair of shearling lined Miu Miu clogs. Miuccia Prada created her sideline brand to cater to those with younger, less expensive tastes. Of course, expense is relative. In this case, less expensive means costing only $300.00 instead of the usual $450.00 range of the Prada line. Thank God for eBay...where I snagged this pair for around half the original price.
Miu Miu revisited
Did I mention that I really love the style of Miu Miu clogs? Not long after I snapped up my first pair on eBay (pictured in the previous post), I ran across a seller who specializes in offering designer styles direct from Italy. That's how I came to add this pair of Miu Mius to my closet.

One little FYI to wrap up today's post: owing to the dearth of interesting new shoes from Miu Miu and the tidal wave of noteworthy clogs flooding out the doors of other makers, I will be shelving my regular Miu Miu Monday feature. Fret not, Miu Miu clog fans. These stunning shoes will still be featured when merited. They just won't have a day all to themselves anymore. And I won't have to wrack my brain for some new way to stick to the theme each Monday.
