Just spotted this pair of knee-high clog boots on Poshmark courtesy of seller iflip4fashion. To my eyes, they are just all kinds of right. Not sure of the maker though.
And then there was this exceptionally unusual pair from Maison Martin Margela (spotted on ssense.com). Quite expensive. But I love the fact that you do get a truly unique style for your money.
I did panic for a moment when I read that the sole is constructed of rubberwood. "It's not real?" But my partner in clog craving, Melissa calmed me down by reading the Wikipedia entry for "rubberwood," thereby reassuring me that it is indeed a form of wood and not just a fancy name for something artificial made out of rubber to resemble wood. It was an educational moment. Among other things I learned that instead of sap, the rubberwood tree contains latex. Yep, the same latex that is processed to produce all things made of rubber. See? This educational and enlightening blog is good for both your feet and mind!
And then when my web surfing landed me on the aliexpress.com pages of a Chinese retailer, I saw and was totally smitten by these chunky bits of funkiness. No, they're not clogs. But they do have the girth and heft that make strapping bits of wood to your feet so much fun. I'm still working through my grief after discovering they aren't available in my size. And that's a bit of information I only unearthed by writing to the retailer and inquiring. For reasons unknown, they wouldn't/couldn't point me to a website for the style, but they did tell me that I could order the shoes through them by placing an order for one of their clothing items and specifying that it was the shoes that I wanted.
I thought they were so cool that I went crazy and scrolled through most of their retail site to download thirty or forty of the outfit photos that showed the models wearing them. That's just me being old school. If I were as social media savvy as Melissa, I'd just be linking to them on Pinterest.
