his time around I have Solestruck to thank for the shock to my system. You know the drill. You're surfing the internet, minding your own business, cruising your favorite retail haunts. Then unexpectedly, some site has uploaded a bunch of mind-addling wooden goodies you've never seen before. Much gaping and tongue lolling ensues. Fortunately, I have a blog to keep. And after a few minutes of speechless covetousness, I move into e-journalist mode and start imagining how best to share news of my discovery with you. The facts are sparse. But there's plenty to chew over if you want to dig a bit on the various tumblr and Facebook sites. Eye candy galore. And for some lucky fan of wooden soles (who has small enough feet), there's joy to be had.
So here's the dirt:
Deandri is the brand name. And they offer not just footwear, but also clothing, jewelry and accessories. Of course, after one look at the shoes, you'll have an excuse not to make it to the other items.
Deandri is presided over by Deanna Richmond (what do you bet her middle name begins with a D?), a 21 year old designer living in Los Angeles. That's also where all her Deandri designs are made.
What caught my eye were the massive lace up oxfords she dreamt up. The pics on the Deandri website are quite appealing, but I prefer the Deandri listings on Solestruck. Primarily because those images are also accompanied by an Add to Cart button. The only chilly breeze blowing through this discovery is the fact that they're only offered in sizes from 6 to 9.
This wedge style is called the Olga.
This lace up oxford bootie is called the Helga.
I told you they were massive.
But what you can't see unless you go digging in the view options is that almost every shoe pictured has a very unique feature on the heel.
How cool is that?
When you tire of gazing at the wonder of these platform beauties (which if you're anything like me will be sometime in August), you can marvel at the other shoe designs Ms. Richmond has come up with...
...or make noises such as "Ungh!" and "Guh!" when viewing the other visual delights to be found.
Woof! Just 21 years old! This certainly seems a very promising start to a long and interesting career!
Oh! One other tidbit to share. Here's the most exciting thing I read on the Deandri website:

Those are amazing shoes! I asked my husband if he thought I should get the Helgas, and he said sure, as long as we added an orthopedic rider to our health insurance. Isn't he funny?? BTW the OMG! Nadine clogs from Koolaburra are $145 at Amazon, which seems like a pretty good price.

Zoinks! I'm with Melissa. That knot detail on the back of the heel makes me swoon. Also, I love those crazy cut-apart / puzzle looking shoes.
And that hand - that ring! those nails!
eek. (I am now fainted.)

Tea: So many earthly delights! And so young a designer! She triggers my underachiever complex.

Tea, I caved. Bought a pair of the pink pebbled leather Helgas—I ordered a 9, since Solestruck claims they run small—we'll see—there are no 8.5s in any color...
