OMG! OMG! OMG!!!
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me set the stage first. A few months back, UGG Australia released some intriguing new clog designs that feature an ample platform and a tall, chunky heel. They were hard to miss on ECHID at the time. You know me and tall, chunky heels. Especially from a company such as UGG who regularly manufacture their fabulously crafted styles in sizes up to 12. Not only would I be likely to fit my foot inside one of these clogs, they were likely to fit well. Desire is too mild a word for my reaction. When the Kaylee first showed up online (and later the Jolene), I knew I HAD to have one of them.

I opted for the Kaylee clog in grey suede which I purchased as a pre-order from Nordstrom back in June, almost two months before their expected shipping date. But the keys I'd used to type in my credit card number had not even gotten cold before I spotted another new style from UGG that rocked me back on my wooden shod heels. Looking back I published word of this shoe rather calmly back on July 6th. It appeared on ECHID as just another entry in my weekly What's New? post. But within a couple days I had placed an order for it, too. I'm speaking of the Savanna clog boot from UGG Australia.
Insert the sound of an angelic choir here.
Suddenly, all my clog dreams had come true. Here was everything I loved in a clog (ample platform, chunky heel, and studs, studs, studs) combined with the firm leg embracing security of a boot style...available in tall sizes.
OMG! OMG!! OMG!!!
But I'm getting ahead of myself again.
I placed my order and sat back to bide my time until the mid-August delivery date rolled around. Fortunately, I had other clogs to keep me occupied in the meantime. (What a surprise, right?) But last Friday, when I least expected it, there was a huge box waiting for me in my lobby. And inside of it, another box bearing two words that I longed to see:
UGG...
...and Savanna.
You know it didn't take me long to put aside the packing material and slip my feet within the welcoming warmth of these luscious boots. It may have been a pleasant summer night in Chicago, but I dug out a pair of leggings and wore these gorgeous UGGs out to dinner with friends...to the approval of all.
I published a picture of these Savannas on my feet on Saturday's "On My Feet As I Blog". It was just a casual shot comparable to the ones above. But the reaction I got was unanimous. You guys LOVE the look of these clogs boots and are eager to read more about them. And that was all the encouragement I needed to devote an entire post to this exciting style.
Regular reader Kathy Ann:
OMG, those clog boots are so awesome! Just spotted them now. I'm a fan of everything open back -- I detest anything rubbing on my heel, hell, I shovel snow in open-back clogs with no socks -- but I'd love to put on a pair of leggings and strut in those.
Regular reader Melissa Krebs:
You look gorgeous in those! I'm sure your friends were impressed with your fashion acumen, and who cares if it's August? Were I to share a meal with you wearing those lovelies, I'd be too busy looking at them to notice the calendar!
Then regular reader Matt Paul wrote:
August Schmaugust! Those boots are made for wearing! So are they winter warm? Are they fully sheep skinned lined? i take it you wear them barefoot like most UGGS? So did you get a 11 or a 12? And how did they fit? I think I'm in Boot envy again! And they look like they would be perfect for the cold winters we have here in Kansas! And I could get me and the wife matching pairs of them!
And regular reader cydb chimed in:
I am also in lust of those boots. I eagerly await your response to Matt's questions~!! Hurrrrry!
Your wish is my command. These boots are indeed worthy of all the desire they may inspire in you at a distance. The leather is sumptuous. The wood midsole is richly stained and feels sturdy and solid. The shearling lining is soft and welcoming. The studs are a subtle accent. And of course, the aroma of the leather seduces your senses like the best open-mouthed kiss you've ever received. Sorry. I really LOVE these boots.
But to answer Matt's questions...
• I wore this pair of knee high leather boots on a pleasant summer night in Chicago. They were not uncomfortably warm for walking to a restaurant and enjoying a meal. I plan to wear them often in autumn and our typically cool Chicago spring as well as winter. I do NOT think you'll only want to reach for these on chilly days. The construction is sturdy so they will get warm if you exert yourself. But for just socializing and knocking out the eyes of your friends and family, they'll travel through a variety of seasons.
• The inner shaft of the boot is fully lined with shearling from the top of the boot to the ankle. The footbed is comfortably padded with additional shearling provided beneath the ball of the foot and the toes.
• I did wear mine barefoot that first night, and I'll probably wear them that way again. But then I love wearing all my shoes barefoot. I will say that a pair of thin socks is not a bad idea with these boots. Trying to pull your naked foot out of a boot lined with shearling takes some doing.
• I bought the size 12 for my 11" long foot, and I think it fits beautifully. I have two UGG open-backed clogs in size 11, and although they feel comfortable on my feet, I think a clog boot constructed on an equivalent midsole and last would feel on the snug side.
• This boot fits my foot perfectly!
So to sum up what I feel about my new Savanna clog boot from UGG Australia: OMG! OMG!! OMG!!!
They truly are awesome. And I don't think I'm far off the mark when I tell you that this is the pair of clog boots I've been hoping for as long as my hoper has been able to hope. If I've inspired you to invest in a pair for yourself, I believe you'll find them just as soul satisfying.
I am not worthy!
Available once again through Nordstrom and on the UGG Australia website.

The ultimate clog boots. Respectful silence. ... But, if anyone is worthy of 'em, it must be you, Lindsey!

I've run out of superlatives, for you, Lindsey! But if I have to resort to repeating myself, you always seem to merit the extra emphasis: you look beyond scrumptious in your Savannas, and your friends must be the ones dropping to their knees in worship—if not, have them speak with me.

Simply speechless!
I need these boots and these boots need me. I can hear them whispering my name...shhhh...can you hear them?
Don't worry baby... Momma's coming!
Btw...nice belt!

Thank you! Can't wait for autumn to really kick in here.
And that belt! Oh, it was a nicer belt once upon a time. But I thought it fit too loose so I had it shortened. By the time the urge struck me to wear it again, I had put on enough dark chocolate around my waist that it no longer fit. So I strung together some spring loaded clasps from the hardware store to extend it by a few inches, and all is well again. Glad you like it.

This is why clogs being worn by the user looks so good. When you put on a pair of clogs with this much excitement, you show confidence that just says sexy. Congrats on the fun of a new addition. You guys make a great family
