About a month ago I posted a couple of intriguing shoes from eco-friendly shoe designers Cri de Couer. This New York label that prides itself on ethical contemporary fashion has caught my eye with a stunning thigh high wooden wedge boot and a comparable wooden wedge clog. (That particular edition of What's New? can be found here.) But just this past weekend I was making the rounds to keep you well informed, and suddenly I noticed a bevy of new designs for those want to be "Style Conscious with a Conscience." Personally, I've rarely been drawn to wedges in times past, but Cri de Couer visionaries Gina Ferraraccio and Julie Dicterow are rapidly making me rethink my position. I've posted an assortment of their latest goodies below. And then, since my search for "wedge + clog" turned up a few other unrelated, but equally drool worthy designs, I tossed in a couple of those, too. Pardon my occasional subjective editorial decisions. Most clog styles make me think "Oh, that's nice." But a shoe inspires me to say "OMG!", I simply have to share.

A round of applause for this brave new brand and their attempt to create globally savvy fashions. At the risk of making light of their efforts, I would love to see other clog designers also take a conscientious step and surrender their plastic midsoles for the sake of making their shoes out of the renewable resource of wood. Their clogs could proudly bear the advisory label: NO NON-RENEWABLE RESOURCES WERE DEPLETED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PRODUCT.
Meantime, here come those other wedges I promised you. Nothing makes me feel my years like a stunning sandal I can't take my eyes off of...and can't imagine wearing in public on my feet.
