ind of a sparse week for fans of wooden footwear. All the usual suspects in the world of shoe designers are not showing a lot of styles that can be considered clog-like. And I'm hearing from my readers that the pickings are slim where they usual go looking. Well, it's like I said months ago: I'm glad I stocked up when I could. The pendulum will swing in our direction again, no doubt. And there will be sporadic pockets of wooden goodness here and there. In the meantime, I thought I'd revisit a couple favorites from the past few months simply because I've got new news to tell.
You may recall my featuring the Neosens clog bootie a couple of weeks back. Regular reader Melissa picked up a pair and proudly modeled them for us not that long ago on ECHID. But she wrote with no small degree of sadness to report that the sole appeared to be molded of plastic.
Happily this style has become a regular feature in Melissa's wardrobe. And wonder of wonders, after all that regular wear, she's noticed that the soles actually appear to be made of a heavily plastic-coated wood. The jury is still out on whether the style truly meets the demands of clog orthodoxy, but having seen them in person myself, I can say they are a gorgeous shoe and well worth the effort of ordering them from Spain.
I also can offer a glowing report on a couple of new UGG Australia styles I was able to try on during my visit to Melissa's part of the world. There's an UGG shop along one of the side streets of Georgetown, Virginia, and while the divine Ms. M and I were strutting our stuff the other afternoon, we popped inside to test drive a couple of clog boots that had caught my eye weeks ago. The mid-heel wedge boot named the Taryn fit me wonderfully in a 12. It's certainly on my radar as a perfect knock around town boot.
But my heart was really set on giving the Cosima Tall boot a try in a 12. And, OMG!, it was worth it! Not sure when I'll take the plunge, but it certainly combines everything you and I seem to love about shoes: great material, great style, great fit, and that feeling like you're able to conquer the world while they're on your feet.
Woof! Let me apologize in advance for all the raving I will be doing about this boot should it ever make its way into my collection. Long time readers will recall my near ecstatic utterances as I made the UGG Savanna my own as well as the Koolaburra Nadine. I expect this style to produce something similar!
Stay tuned.
