iven that one picture is worth a thousand words, I can safely say you're in store for a healthy-sized novella today. I love grabbing a thought and letting the prose flow from that starting point to wherever it wants to go. But for this outing, I just want to share a few pictures that I've taken over the past few weeks. It's the perfect way to share some personal high points that would be rather tricky to communicate any other way.
eBay and Why I Love It So Much
In an alternative reality I'd have been a trust fund baby who could indulge every single footwear passion that thrums within my shoe-loving heart. Or maybe I'd inhabit a universe in which I reviewed shoes for a national television show and companies would send me unlimited free samples to wear and enjoy. But this is the real world and I necessarily have to work within the limits imposed by, oh, paying for food and keeping a roof over my head. Hence my infatuation with eBay. Those shoes that initially intimdated me by their frightening retail price were suddenly reduced to the financial reach of mere mortals.
Having said that, I should also recognize that eBay also functions for me as something of a time machine. There have been fabulous examples of wooden goodness that I didn't pounce on when they first came on the market for one reason or another. (Most likely because I'd already spent the rent on another pair of shoes. There's that money thing again.) But thanks to the fickleness of other footwear fans, those styles I missed out on in season's past seem to eventually surface on this resale site if I only wait patiently and watch vigilantly.
So allow me to share a goodly assortment of shoes I've been able to make my own thanks to the existence of eBay. My sense of fashion and personal style would certainly have been more stunted if this corner of the internet had not existed!
(Oh, dear. In yet another perfect world, I'd have had the patience to arrange all these photos in chronological order of acquisition or by heel height or something to reflect some overriding master plan.)
Good Lord, that's a lot of shoes! So many that I chose not to provide the brand or the style name. But if enough of you regular readers chime in with curiosity and interest, I'll post 'em again with all the appropriate details.
More Scandic Footwear Photos
I appreciated the folks from Scandic Footwear supplying my daughter with a pair of their clog boots for her to test drive and report on. One of my last times online I uploaded some iPhone photos I took the day she flew back into town and was able to open the package. But the craftsmanship on these shoes is impeccable and the leather is gorgeous. I felt I needed to take some proper pics out under the summer sun. So before my daughter flew back to her part of the country, we trotted down the street for gelato and snapshots.
About That New Jeffrey Campbell Style
It's the Rookbee from Jeffrey Campbell. And yes, I got it in a size 11. Twice, actually. Mainly because the retailer I bought it from announce a 30% off discount on new styles the day after I placed my order. So I kept the cheaper pair and returned the full priced item. (Which means if you might be in the market for this one, drop me a line and I'll point you toward the website that got my business.) They're crazy fun. And I responded by showing them off two days this past week. (Looking forward to wearing them to work again tomorrow!)
Meanwhile, Over at UGG
One yummy new clog bootie named the Carberry. The lone new wood-soled offering in their autumn/winter collection. The brown pair is nice (styled below on Nordstrom.com), but when I took a close look at the black shoe, I said, "Get on my feet!"
