hat's better than a new pair of clogs? A new pair of clogs that's free, that's what! And what could be better than a free pair of new clogs? How about a free pair of new clogs from a one woman dynamo who's truly making a name for herself in the wooden shoe universe! This month I'm pleased to be able to treat you to pair of spring sandals from Chameleon Clogs. We first met owner and weaver Rabiah Hodges over two years ago when I featured her in an interview for ECHID. That article itself is worth digging back through the archives to find. But a little over a year go, she was in the spotlight once again with the story of how she had come to be part owner of her very own clog factory. Talk about the diminutive clog maker who could! It's been a pleasure tracking her career in the marketplace and cheering her on from the sidelines. Month after month she has championed her unique woven clog designs for Chameleon Clogs while also spreading the word about her distinctive line of traditional Swedish clogs, Dala Clogs. And does she ever weary of all the hard work? As she told me months ago after a particularly hassle filled month,
I'm still fighting! It's the Leo in me! :)
She is a survivor, and no mistake. And I'm happy to count her among the fans and supporters of ECHID. So you can imagine how pleased I am to be able to present a Chameleon Clogs giveaway in April. And not just for one, but two winners! Rabiah and I conferred, and we agreed that we enjoy the contests most that give you readers a chance to participate. Sure you can jot down a few lines about a favorite summer smock or sleeveless top and capri pant combo that you think will look perfect with your new Vera sandal in lime green leather, sand nubuck, or red patent. But it would be much more fun for all of us if we could see pictures of that outfit you think is screaming for a new pair of clogs. Give it some thought. Dust off your cell phone camera. And join in the fun to win yourself some new shoes...for free!

Guy Day Friday
I haven't overlooked the fact that today is a Friday! So allow me to direct your attention to a recent post on The Fashionoclast, the blog of regular reader Frédérik Sisa. It's no surprise he covers topics related to fashion quite frequently. But this past week, I was pleased to discover he did a post specifically on his own passion for clogs. I, of course, have to speak glowingly of anyone who revels in wearing wood soled shoes. But combine that with a sense of style that is confidently unique, and I am forced to introduce him to everyone who'll permit me to. And just to seal the deal, here are a couple of morsels I picked up from Frédérik's blog. Click the link and find out what more there is to discover! Including a much better shot of his gorgeous new Clogmaster biker strap clogs, glimpsed briefly below.
I knew I wanted to get a pair of clogs with biker straps; something with more kick than the usual design. The question was whether to stick with all-black or boldly go for a splash of colour. Colour won out, as you can see, and like the Audubons I just love both the style and quality of craftsmanship. The benefit that comes from having custom-fitted clogs makes all the difference, and if you have an opportunity to catch up with Clogmaster – do it. The price, well above a hundred but still below $200 (I can't remember the exact price at the moment.) is well worth it, as it is for any pair of shoes that is durable, handmade, custom-fitted, and promises to be a good friend to your feet for a long time to come.)

[On my feet as I blog: the midnight blue Katja clog boots from Rockport. I love the look. I love the fit. I love the feel. It's hard to recall being on the fence about this style when I first spotted it in my size. It's clearly a current wardrobe favorite!]

Frederik, the biker clogs are SWEET. The touch of colour is genius. Unfortunately I don't have access to Clog Master. :-( I will just have to admire yours. :-)

London Lady: Ah, but the Clogmaster Clogs are made by Sven. You could just order that style from them directly. You just won't get the Clogmaster fit.

Thanks, London Lady! And as Lindsey says, you can order from Sven and get whatever clogs would delight you. :)

Hello, I just wanted to comment on how much I enjoy your blog! I've found so many great clogs, past and present, through your thoughtful research! So thank you very much! I also wanted to ask if you'd seen the vintage pair of J Crew leather mules/clogs currently available on ebay!? They're black with a penny-loafer like leather upper! They appear to be in great shape! I'd purchase them myself but they're too big for me, plus I already own a pair of them in the choc. brown color! I think I've had them for about 15 years and I still wear them. Maybe one of your readers will become the new owner? Thanks again, L.J. in Oregon

A Facebook User: Thanks for dropping by! I've been wanting a pair like those J. Crew penny loafers for awhile now, but no luck finding them in my size. But as I've regularly learned, if it's not this shoe, it'll be another!
