ah! As a good clog loving friend of mine likes to say. It's an apt word suitable to many circumstances and contexts, and I found it an extremely fitting response to the non-stop action of my Wednesday. Gah! I dug into my projects for the day early—immediately after getting out of bed, in fact. But somewhere around 11:30 I remembered a 12:00 noon lunch engagement which somehow never made it into my calendar. Gah! (I later determined that the person I was meeting had not confirmed that she was available so I never marked it down. Still, I flew through a shower and wardrobe selection and arrived only a few minutes past the hour.) Then somewhere around the middle of the afternoon one of my clients chimed in with a copy change that affected three out of four of my completed morning projects. Gah, again! I was just about to take a break around 4:30 when my body made it imperatively clear that I would be needing to take a nap right then and there. So I did. A fitful slumber fueled by the knowledge that I really needed to be out the door by a little after 5:00 and on my way to my evening commitments. Of course, part of the point of the evening was to sort out an issue with a fellow musician. But as I was finally headed out the door, I noticed a message had come in saying that she would be a "no show" at the first music rehearsal of the evening. Gah! I arrived late and slung my bass guitar over my shoulder to work on Genesis tunes with my progressive rock friends. Then it was out the door at 8:00 to spend two-and-a-half hours playing trombone and sorting out how the brass parts I created last week would fit into the doo-wop tunes my Old Town School of Folk Music friends and I would be playing this Friday night. We're the backup band behind an impressive vocalist who performs as drag king Dyke Van Dick, and I'm happy to say that what I wrote worked. So no "Gah!" at the end of the evening. Though racing home to get to the grocery store to pick up fresh tins of cat food before they close at midnight had me thinking "Gah!" and other words, too, at a number of drivers who were intent on going well under the speed limit. And though the fact my leftover homemade dinner came out of the microwave closer to 12:30 A. M. is worthy of a "Gah!" or two, I have to admit that it was favorite comfort food that I ate and that I'm following it right this moment with a bowl of green tea ice cream. No more "Gah!" It's time for a very heartfelt "Mmmmmm!" I've been in motion since I bolted out of bed, and I'm glad to say this day's journey is finally at an end. But as any true shoe lover will tell you, it's days like this one that make us wear the shoes that we do. Because what better way is there to deal with the pressure and stress of navigating through life than to be able to glance down and remind myself that even though I might feel I'm trudging along, I'm doing so in a great pair of clogs.

Oh, dear. Now that I've created a preamble, I have to figure out something to fill the body of this post today.
Gah!
Well, let me make it a low impact exercise and simply upload some interesting wooden shoes I saw discounted recently. The sale prices indicate they've been marked down to clear out the inventory. And once that happens, I really shouldn't post them on What's New? So permit me the easy out of displaying them here.

[On my feet as I blog: well, I had to race out the door to get to a lunch meeting. It was easiest to fall back on a pair of shoes that I already know can take me through just about anything I have to do in a day. I dressed myself around my Rosabella clog boots from UGG Australia.]
In the world of green tea ice cream, have you tried Sassy Cow? They're a small creamery in your neighbor state to the north, and it's pretty much the most divine green tea ice cream I've ever had. (Very good for diminishing Gah!s).

Tea: I usually get my green tea ice cream from an Asian supermarket so the flavor is usually strong and smoky. Though I will say the Haagen-Dazs version is not too bad. I just sent a query to the Sassy Cow folks. Here's hoping they have a distributor in the Chicago area.

Oh! I didn't even think about them not distributing all the way over the border. I'm one of those horrible local artisan food snobs that takes great comfort in getting everything from my co-op, so much so that it never occurred to me that I'm recommending something too small to even make its way out of state. However, I'll say what I like about it best is the crispness of it. That being said, your strong and smoky version from the Asian market sounds good, too. I'll have to check mine next time I'm there; never occurred to me to look for ice cream when there are so many other delights. Also: Next time you make it to Milwaukee, you'll have to go to an Outpost so you can get a tub of the Sassy Cow if you can't find it near you.
Funny thing about green tea ice cream: People tend to fall into one of two camps of the love/hate variety when it comes to that flavor. Me? The more my food or drinks taste like dirt, the better. I like ginseng gum, peaty whiskey, black beer, etc. I'm kind of a dude that way. ;)

Tea: Ha, ha! I think many of us are! I've discovered most of my readers don't fit the typical molds.
And I will keep a visit to an Outpost in mind next time I'm in town!

Tea: Though I have to say, when it comes to beer, I always think the typical "guy" brands are things like Miller or Bud, not Guinness.

Ah, good point. And when it comes to microbrews, the dude-bros tend to love the hoppy stuff, while I'm more into stouts or sour beers.
Side-note. My comment on today's post got eaten.

Tea: Really? That's inexcusable! Let me contact tech support and have them specifically take a look into the matter. Both your comments on yesterday's post made it through. I'll let you know what I find out.
