mmmmmmmmm. Comfort food is why God made kitchens. And I'm indulging in a little as I blog. Or I will as soon as they come out of the oven. There's a local restaurant here named Ann Sather that is known for their cinnamon rolls. The food in general is good solid fare at all three of their Chicago locations, but their gooey buns of warm, wonderful spice and sugar are something to travel miles out of your way for. And trust me, I have. But one day, it occurred to me that I could try my hand at making a batch for myself. I don't think of myself as a particularly experienced cook, but I've wrestled with my Cuisinart and my cutting board enough not to be scared away from a recipe that contains such words as "knead" and "yeast". And besides, these are cinnamon rolls we're talking about. I figured I would never be able to replicate the tummy pleasing yumminess of the Ann Sather pastries. But if I could make a close enough approximation, I might be able to save myself some gasoline and a few centimeters on the waistline. The recipe I found on Recipes.com has gotten me and my taste buds where we wanted to go. And in just a bit, when the timer finally sounds, I will be savoring nirvana, ambrosia, and visions of sugar plums all rolled into one. As I said before, "Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!"

1. Oxford lace-up (aka A17161) from Sophya
Oh, dear. Another clog style shoe that's been listed on the web with not a single mention of the C-word. I will admit that this style and the next are not new. In fact this one has been marked 50% off in the only color that remains and the next non-c__g from Sophya below is completely out of stock. Well, I missed them when they first came out, but the completist in me wants to include them at least once on Every Clog Has Its Day before they disappear into people's closets completely. Also worth noting is that I nabbed this one in my size before it disappeared. I have such spotty luck with sizes it remains to be seen whether along with the Free Shipping I'll also be taking advantage of the Free Returns.
Available in tan only from Nordstrom, but I'm publishing pics of the brown pair, too, 'cause I think it looks so gorgeous.

2. Pull-on boot from Sophya
Ya know, maybe it's not my fault that I've overlooked these two styles. I mean, if I went to Nordstrom.com and did a search for "clog" when these styles first went online, I'm betting they wouldn't have showed up. Dear Lord, don't tell me I have scour every shoe catalog completely to unearth whatever studded wooden goodness may be buried there!
Formerly available from Nordstrom.

3. Beal clog boot from Rachel Comey
Another style that doesn't rightfully belong here today. I featured it on a What's New? back in December, in fact. But when I saw this shoe on a model's feet on this retailer's website, I had to go out of my way to share.
Available through La Garçonne.

Almost nearly the same style,...but with no full outfit shots to show it off. Phooey.

[On my feet as I blog: why, hello, you Nadine clog boots from Koolaburra! I haven't spent much time with you lately. Let's make up for that! Ding! Oh! There's the timer!]
Love the Beal clog boots. Bit pricey though. On the other hand, they come with a dustbag....

That pull-on boot from Sophya looks warm and toasty! The Oxford lace-up is pretty neat too.
@Lindsey: Those Nadine clog boots are looking mighty fine!

Kathy Ann: I've been lucky the weather here has been kind enough to allow me to wear them!
Hope you're coping well.

Coping as best I can, getting myself mentally ready for what lies ahead. I know I'm in for a rough few years ahead. Honestly, I think I can handle it because it is only temporary, but I'm more concerned about how my daughter will handle Mommy being in a wheelchair on and off for a couple of years. Kids usually do better than the adults!
Forgot if I mentioned it, but we located a house all on one floor in NJ that is fully handicap accessible. This will be a big help, though I will miss our neighborhood, and my daughter will have to switch schools midstream.
The weather here is nuts. Tomorrow afternoon will be sunny and 60! Hubby is off and has promised to wheel me around outside in the afternoon.
