rrrr! This was one of those days when the rice boils over and the toilet plugs up (we do not call them clogs in my household) and the past due notice arrives for a bill you know you've paid and right in the middle of a project when you need your concentration the most, a telemarketer calls. Got the picture? I started the day with a smile, but it had turned into gritted teeth by the time bedtime rolled around. And I still hadn't had a chance to just sit and chill for a bit. Or get my blog post prepared. I am feeling cranky without a doubt. I think it's partly because it felt like I went two steps forward and three steps back. And partly because I've got no new shoes in the pipeline. Usually a trip to eBay or one of the overstock sites will pu something inexpensive within my grasp. But I've been so distracted by the holidays and enjoying the shoes I've already got (what a novel concept!), I haven't had a chance to go searching the web for some new footwear to provide a fresh round of mood elevation. I'll just have to go treat myself, I guess. Right after I clean up the stove and plunge the toilet and call the credit company and polish off that project finally. At least I've got my blog post done!

John Fluevog at the White House
Well, John's shoes at any rate. Whilst visiting the Fluevog website and enjoying the customer posted Flue Shots, I noticed one of my favorite wood soled 'Vogs was only one degree of separation from the President. Don't know who contributor "chele" is or how her blood orange Responses were able to enjoy an audience with The Commander in Chief, but I had to smile when I read:
Here's what I have to report: Barack Obama has the softest hands ever.

Shoes: model's own
No three words can be more dismaying when you spot a stellar set of shoes in a fashion shoot. Fortunately, when such a frustrating circumstance arises, help is often just a query away. Reader Thane dropped by the Comments earlier this week to direct my attention to a jeggings listing on The Gap's website that featured a pair of clog booties that certainly would have made me sit up and take notice, too.
She writes,
Hi there, wondering if you could identify these clogs. I love them but can't seem to figure out where they came from!
Any takers?
I spotted those large, flat nailheads that accent the perimeter of the midsole and immediately thought of the Marc by Marc Jacobs clog bootie that was introduced here on ECHID back in June of 2010.
But having ventured that guess, I'm also troubled by a lingering vision of a knockoff on ASOS or Topshop that captured essentially the same look for a lot less money. Can anyone help me place it?
As I told Thane, wherever the model's shoe came from, it's probably only available through eBay at this point. Happy hunting. And remember, a properly worded Saved Search with e-mail notifications can bring a lot joy to your life.

Lita R. I. P.?
To quote streetstyle photographer and frequent blogger Mr. Newton,
Oh, the Jeffrey Campbell Lita bootie, the shoe that launched a thousand blog posts. In 2011, you came in like a lion and went out like a (rather tired, exhausted, overexposed) lamb. Still, it was fun while it lasted...and with the swingy coat, clingy jeggings, and bright, oversized envelope clutch it's undeniably a great look. I shall miss you, Lita, you were fun to shoot.
Or so he wrote to accompany a shot of the iconic JC style for Harper's Bazaar. But I'm thinking reports of this distinctive shoe's demise are somewhat exaggerated. Especially considering some of the newest iterations surfacing on Solestruck:
I can totally relate to the most recent of the 826 product reviews posted for this shoe on Solestruck's product page:
I own 9 pairs of the Litas and somehow, that still isn't enough! They're extremely comfortable and I love the variety of colors and prints they come in. I'm only 5'3" so these boots are perfect for me. When I wear them, I'm only a few inches shorter than my husband. :)

Amen, sister! Rock that collection!

[On my feet as I blog: I don't know what went wrong with this day. I had on a great pair of shoes, my Storytimes from BC Footwear. If those can't help keep the darkness at bay, I must be dealing with some existential Super Bug!]
She's wearing my orange Vogs! Such great taste!

Lindsey, I sure am enjoying your letters made out of your shoes! Nice to see more of your yummy collection, and something fun to watch for every day! Thanks for all that extra effort.

Happy New Year!

I may be feeling the bluest because I can't just go shopping for shoes! But my tire should be repaired by lunchtime. All will be well!

I'm with Melissa: Those letters made out of shoes are the best addition for the new year. Also: I'm totally impressed by the choice of footwear that woman is sporting for her photo op with the president. What confidence! Maybe I'll wear clogs to my job interview tomorrow after all.

Ooo! And you have so many colorful choices to choose from as I recall. Good luck! I have to say, I'm constantly surprised by the number of positive, worthwhile conversations my own footwear choices regularly inspire. From women and men!
