...and you know what that means.

In other news, my holiday To Do list is happily dwindling. At the time of this writing it's down from 11 to only 6. And two of those should be checked off by the time this post hits the 'net and another two or three should be taken care of by the time you read it...unless you live in Europe like London Lady and Johanna and start your day with a visit to the land of ECHID. (By the way, Merry Christmas and prettig kerstfeest respectively, you guys!) I remember one grueling December 24th years ago when I got up at 3:30 in the morning because I had to be at work extremely early that day and ended up running errands, taking care of chores, wrapping packages, and in general getting last minute details taken care of before going to bed at 3:30 the next morning. I'm happy to report this year has been nothing like that. And even though I still have to mix the dough for our family's traditional spritz cookies, bake a custard pie (a favorite of my kids), and prepare the Christmas Eve paella, I can relax (a little) knowing that all the presents are wrapped and under the tree. And yes, one of those boxes contains a pair of wood soled shoes. How could it be a happy holiday without?

In other news, that Space sandal from Minimarket that I blogged about earlier this week may have found a new home. My daughter tried them on and fell in love. Still, there are issues. The wood sole fit her perfectly she tells me (I wasn't there when she tried 'em on), but the leather straps over the instep were too loose and the ankle wrapping strap fit snugly with the buckle on the front of her leg and not on the side where it should have ended up.

The apple never falls far from the tree as they say. She's eager to take the shoes to the cobbler to get the necessary modifications made...just as I've always done when confronted with a style that only needed a little tweak to be perfect on my own feet. If she hadn't been up all night with friends, I'd have gotten her in front of a camera to model them for us. Well, if I can't wear this one, at least I can enjoy them vicariously through her. Oh, dear. I so did not want to be one of those parents!
But that's okay. I have my own personal happiness to surrender to once Christmas Day arrives and I can finally indulge myself in an orgy of shearling and wood sole goodness courtesy of No 6. Those thigh-high boots my honeybee is giving me for Christmas will at last be mine to wear. And wear them I will. Happily, that special person will be here to enjoy them along with me. (And don't let it get around, but I've got a shoe surprise waiting here that should reflect the delight right back. Mum's the word!)

Is it Christmas yet?

[On my feet as I blog: once again, from the shelves of BC Footwear, it's...no, not the Storytimes...I thought I'd give them a break. Ladies and gentlemen, would you please put your hands together for the clog booties that got me through last winter. Give it up for the Outerspace!!!]
