...gardening. And for some people that is a form of rest. Since Sunday is also the day I choose to stray from my "wooden clogs and nothing but wooden clogs" policy, I thought I'd treat you to this pair of rubber or plastic clogs. Etsy seller Gollygollygolly was so thorough and so enthusiastic in her post, I just had to share her description verbatim here. Partly because it gives some background and info about a similar style of manmade Dutch style clogs that has been floating around the marketplace. And if you do pick up a pair to do the gardening in, be sure to kick 'em off before you tramp that mud all over the house!
Gollygollygolly tells me she's sending this pair out into the world because her feet have decided not to fit them anymore. About these shoes she writes,
This is a pair of older (23 years) heavy molded clogs made in Germany with insoles of cork and plaid cotton. They were sold by Smith and Hawken back in the day and are excellent. Made of sturdy firm rubber or rubbery plastic, they hold up extremely well. These have been worn, and with that in mind, there are scuffs on the underside - wear scuffs here and there only noticeable upon close inspection.
European size 37- about a size 7/8
These are sold as "Jolly's" now but are not the same. These are durable and sturdy and will see you through many more years of gardening. PLUS your feet will cheer you up while wearing these- thoughts of Daisy Duck may occur.
Just for the sake of thoroughness, the current crop of Jolly's gardening footwear (in the categories Classic Clogs, Classic Shoes, Fashion Clogs, and Fashion Shoes) can be viewed on the gardenclogs.com website.
And how many times do I have to tell you about tracking that mud in here???
What a stroke of luck, finding your blog! Clog blog- clever you! Thank you for featuring these daisy duck shoes- They are screaming YELLOW with delight! Thanks!

Spent a day of clogging around New York today. We started out with Mass at St. Patrick's, then a subway ride north to the Bronx Zoo. Plenty of walking around the zoo. Then by late afternoon, a subway ride back into Manhattan and downtown to Chinatown for dinner. Finally home.
I wore my super comfortable pair of totally beat-to-shit leopard-print Sanitas, my husband wore his Sanita Karls and my daughter her pair of Sanita kiddies. (We all went "Danish" for the day.)
BTW, eureka! Those Anna biker clogs shipped and should be here by Monday. I'll e-mail a picture for the next Guy Day Friday.

Thank you! I'd love to see them for myself. Plus, it would be so nice to have a proper photo of them to display instead of that rather small and out of focus image on the website!

They came today and are very nice looking. My husband is wearing them out and about this afternoon, so I'll take a few pictures and e-mail them to you either tonight or tomorrow. If I knew it would have taken a month and a half to get them, I would have ordered a pair for myself back in March.
