I'm closing in on two years of clog blogging here on Every Clog Has Its Day, and like any fan of fashion, I'm eager to pursue my passion in new and unexpected directions. Just recently I discovered a unique new approach to apparel. At first I didn't think it was for real. But when I took a closer look, I quickly came around. I mean, if I love having wooden shoes beneath my feet, why wouldn't I enjoy having a wooden coat on my back? It would be every bit as durable as the clogs I love. And as long as I got a proper fit, every bit as comfortable.
Take a look and let me know what you think. It could be the next step for all us wooden shoe fans.
You think I'm kidding? Well, it is April 1st after all. And no, wooden clothing would probably not be all that comfortable to wear. But when you spend some time with the wooden clothing sculptures below, you will discover a different sensation creeping over yourself: amazement. The idea of doing a post about wooden clothing began as an April Fools Day prank. But as I dug into my Google search results, I came across the unbelievable pieces you see posted from here down. I keep gazing at them trying to will myself to see the wood that underlies each carving, but all I can see is the cloth or the leather or even the zippers and buttons that are not there. Welcome to the stunning creative work of Fraser Smith, a 52 year old sculptor who calls the Tampa Bay area his home. Mr. Smith was kind enough to allow me to post some of his photos on my blog, but the handful I've chosen doesn't do justice to the range of pieces you'll see on his site, every single one of them rendered out of solid wood and painted to make the illusion complete. Incredible!
Still don't believe that these pieces are really carved out of wood? Here's proof!

Wow so cool. Finally a clothing line to pair with my wood clogs. I could totally rock that Swiss jacket. I am now inspired to find a jacket like this one.
