It's 89° in Chicago as I write this post with the humidity thick enough to make it feel like you're wrapping yourself in a damp wool blanket when you step outside. Not the best day to be contemplating as many cold weather clog boots as I have to offer today. But we persevere when we must and deal with adversity in the service of our greater satisfaction! Do your worst, summer! Someday I'll be shivering in the single digit wind chill of northern Illinois thinking back to warmer times. At least I'll have done my homework and will be comfy standing in the slush thanks to a pair of clog boots I found months ahead of time!

1. Lynnea ankle clog boot from UGG Australia
One of my faithful readers is a pushover whenever wood soles and shearling come together in the same shoe. I can only imagine the ecstasy this fan will feel seeing this listing. It's a modest heeled shoe crafted of fine leather. The shearling lining makes it a must for slipping on for a quick errand in winter, socks optional. And I quite like the convertible design. Available through Nordstrom.

2. Trinette clog boot from Sanita
Meantime, this spin on the knee high clog boot is now available in multiple colors of nubuck leather: rose, stone, rusty, and brown. These images are from the Sanita website, but the style itself can be pre-ordered in a range of sizes through WomensShoes.com (though they list the fourth color as black). According to their pull down size menu, the boots will become available toward the middle of August. Waiting is hard, I know. But at least when they arrive, you'll be that much closer to the cooler weather.

3. Pippi clog boot from Dsquared2
If you haven't run across your "fun fact to know and tell" for the day, let me treat you to this little tidbit from the 6pm.com website:
Dsquared2 was created by Dean and Dan Caten, Canadian twin brothers from Willowdale, Ontario. The twins arrived in Italy in 1991 with the goal of pursuing their love of fashion and realizing their dream of creating their very own ready-to-wear collection. After several major collaborations, the first real opportunity for a potential spot in the international fashion hall of fame came along in 1994 when they brought a men's ready-to-wear collection to the runways of Milan, marking the first in a long succession of runway extravaganzas that captured the attention of the fashion world for their matchless combination of style, music and spectacle.
An intelligent mix of "American Dream", irreverent Canadian wit and refined Italian tailoring, together with attention to detail are the foundation of today's Dsquared2 philosophy, which has given life to a unique new concept of alternative luxury.
I like that idea: alternative luxury. That seems to so aptly describe this unique style. A shoe that harkens back to the high heeled construction worker boots that Jennifer Lopez helped popularize a few seasons ago. But with a wooden clog base. These are available in limited supply at this point. 6pm has them, but the product photos are better over on SSENSE.

4. Kybele clog bootie from Nine West
I mentioned it earlier on this very blog, but I got the impression that the maker wasn't going to make it available that soon. But here it is. In all its fur-lined glory. The Kybele clog boot is now available for pre-order from Nine West, though they're only guaranteeing it will arrive by sometime in early October. Not the shoe to plan to wear for your September apple picking apparently. But Lord, that shearling will feel nice around the middle of December. Attentive clog fans will have noticed that this bootie looks significantly different from the version the models are wearing in the product shots I posted Tuesday. Those photos show a shoe with fur that matches the color of the suede. Clearly there's been some redesigning going on. Yet there's still plenty to love. And for the price, it could be a match made in heaven! Available through the Nine West website.

5. Whipstitched clog from Corso Como
But we have months to go before winter arrives. How about a pair of clogs to keep your feet happy 'til the first snowflake flies? Corso Como checks in with this understated mid-heel style. The whipstitched detail on the upper is the main design element that sets this pair apart from the crowd. At just 4" with a 1-1/4" platform, this could be just the clog to give you some height without making you feel like you're towering over the crowd. Available in black and taupe from Nordstrom.

6. Rory wood bottom shoe from Dansko
Just the other night I received a comment from the folks at ClogKingdom.com (who, by the way, are having a clearance sale on popular Dansko styles). Shari from that e-tailer wrote in to mention that they're carrying Dansko's new Rio collection. As you may have noticed on this blog previously, the American shoemaker long associated with comfort has stepped into the current clog craze with an assortment of medium heeled styles. A bold move to say the least since so many women who do prize comfort would find heels the last thing they want to wear. But Dansko has risen to the occasion. Their website assures us that
a hooded construction allows us to add height without putting strain on the foot. Get the look of a heel with all the comfort of a Dansko clog.
Not sure what a "hooded construction" means, but I'm betting doesn't involve smoke, mirrors, or injections of anesthetic. Please weigh in with your experiences about these new Dansko designs. I detailed a couple of them in yesterday's post, but this additional style is availble through ClogKingdom. Once again I'm feeling overwhelmed with the breadth of selection out there right now!

7. Fawn harness platform clog from Diane Von Furstenberg
And you know when the deeper hues start appearing in footwear that fall is most definitely coming. There's a richness to the Khaki Green suede that I can't resist (though the retail price is assisting me considerably), and I certainly wouldn't deny the New Luggage suede version floor space in my closet if it came begging for a home. Sunshine and summer wear go together so sweetly. But when I start seeing these hues I start longing for the muted outfits I favor once October arrives. Look for this pair at Neiman-Marcus if the colors are proving too irresistible for you.
