For every fan of this blog who's been experiencing unrequited desire ever since those stunningly bold clogs graced the catwalk at Chanel's Spring/Summer 2010 fashion show (feel free to refresh your memory and/or appetite here), I have good news! Someone in shoe design heaven has heard us weeping and gnashing our teeth and delivered unto us a clog worthy of our worship. Pardon the hyperbole, but these shoes are fantastic. God bless Jeffrey Campbell's design team for serving up a shoe that covers all the right bases. Is the platform significant? You bet! Is the heel both chunky and tall? Count on it! Is the shoe guaranteed to make your swoon before you even slip it on your foot? Well, duh! It's a clog, isn't it? And it's got a sweet little strap over the instep that can be flipped around behind your heel to hold your foot securely within. Best of all, this beauty is available now (as in point your browser to the upcoming URLs immediately) in three appealing colors: natural, tan, and available for pre-order, black.
I'd suggest starting your worshipful pilgrimage with Lori's Shoes. This Chicago based retailer had a reputation for their great shoes even before the internet came along to spread the word. And their name carries some weight with suppliers. I'm told by Corree who is a person in the know on the Lori's team that they received the first shipment of the Charlie clog in Natural. And that they're due to get it in Black to and "will be stocked in it all season". I'd suggest you hustle buns. In the 12 hours or so since I first spotted these shoes on Lori's, a number of sizes have disappeared completely. Could be the fact that their price is so good. Or maybe these shoes are just going to be a hot item this season. (Also worth mentioning, Corree tells me that the Jeffrey Campbell styles tend to run short in the toe box so maybe picking up a larger size wouldn't be a bad idea!)
Meanwhile you can find the same style over on Singer 22 for quite a few dollars more. They currently have it in Tan and are also offering you the chance to place your order now for the shoe in Black when it ships at the end of March. Talk about delayed gratification! That's almost five complete footwear love affairs away (from first crush all the way through dumping them to rest forlornly at the back of your closet with the other jilted styles).
