The only dreadful thing about Daylight Savings Time is that agonizing morning in the spring when you lose an hour of sleep. I know, I know. If you go to bed an hour earlier that wouldn't be a problem, but...get real. Thankfully the pain is somewhat compensated for during that glorious morning in autumn when you wake up to discover you can actually sleep for another hour if you want to. That to me is bliss. And this Sunday I am indulging in the experience. Maybe I'll even take an extra hour on top of the freebie. Fortunately this year the change from DST (which occurs on the first Sunday of November) actually falls on the 1st. Which means that the day before is Halloween. And I, after a night of reveling with friends at my annual Halloween party (costumes encouraged), will be greeting the next morning with the knowledge that I have more time to fritter away should I choose to. I know the adage is "Spring forward, fall back." But I prefer my own spin: "Spring forward, fall down." Because by this point in the year it's going to take me a while to get up.
But all of this preamble is simply to defend my lassitude on this day of rest. I'll be the one enjoying the sensible shoes this Sunday, thank you. You, instead, may treat yourself to a peek at just a portion of the clog collection that has gathered on the floor of my closet. Or gathering dust more likely.
